May 2019 child abuse WT

the new study edition watchtower is up, and most of it is devoted to child abuse damage control.. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/watchtower-study-may-2019/.

a major problem with this issue in the UK is people who claim they were abused as children--by well known public figures--politicians--actors--entertainers etc. it can destroy such a persons life--career--reputation etc. even before the court case.

in the really controversial cases--there are NO "2 witnesses"--just an allegation from one person against another..and who's story do the courts believe ?

i knew of one case--although he was in no way famous.

this was 25 years ago the man accused was the care taker of an industrial complex. he and his wife had previously been foster parents to several kids. one of the kids--a girl--after a few years alleged the man had abused her whist she lived in his house

he denied it

Anyone notice JW old publications are going way up in price?

i have long collected the older books and magazines that show the jws crazy cult history.

they used to be very cheap and i have had people just give me books.

but now it seems the older stuff that shows the crazy cult history is really going up in price.

i must have dumped a small fortune in old watchtower rubbish when i cleared my old dads house out.

why anyone would any of it--for free--beats me. even the watchtower wouldnt want it.

last saturday morning, i answered a knock at my door to see a man standing next to a young boy who handed me a pamphlet posing the question, "how do you view the bible?

would you say it is (1) a book of human wisdom?

(2) a book of myths and legends?

Baptised 52 years today!

january 29th - my baptism date.

can you remember how you felt at your baptism?.

i got baptised because my dad kept frightening me.

i was 14. i attended meetings with my mum. she was baptised before.

my dad had been having a study--and said he was getting baptised at the local assembly. i knew some of the kids my age in the congregation were getting baptised as well. so i thought it would be cool if i was too--to be with dad .

one of the kids getting dipped told me i would be asked 2 questions--and i had to shout out--no.

this was 56 years ago.

Just peeking in for a bit...

i rather apprehensively would like to say hello.. i've been raised somewhat in the truth,one of my parents is rather rather strong in the beliefs but could honestly be considered pomi with how active they are and their side of the family comes from a line of witnesses, the other parent was but faded a long time ago.

as such i was taught quite a bit of jw teachings between family and off and on again bible studies.

recently i had a serious emotional break down over a few months after said pomi parent had advised me that they would not attend my wedding should that day come (i also had recieved a text from my bible teacher i hadnt heard from in a year or two giving a scripture) and it sorta all sank on me that my activity over the last few years was not really jw material.

dont worry about it--the GB are definitely Jehovah's sole channel of communication with mankind...so it must be right.

Something more than physical life.

most every night, where i work i transport dead persons to the morgue.

others i work with have told me that around 3:00am they hear voices in the morgue.. i asked them have they experienced something more than physical life?

just the voices inside the cold morgue.
